Frequently asked questions
What is DSIP?
A nonapeptide, Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, isolated in 1977 from rabbit blood during electrically induced sleep. Human results are genuinely disputed; no specific DSIP receptor has been identified after nearly fifty years. Full history on the DSIP page.
Does DSIP actually work for sleep?
Mixed evidence. A 1992 double-blind trial (PMID 1299794) found a positive result in chronic insomniacs; later reviewers call it hard to reproduce at scale. Neurophysiologist Alexander Borbély publicly called DSIP "a flop as a sleep substance" — DSIP co-discoverer Karl Schoenenberger disagreed.
Is DSIP + glycine a real combination, or a Panacea invention?
Real, and decades older than this site. Deltaran — a lyophilized DSIP-and-glycine preparation, 1:10 w/w — was registered in Russia in 1998 at the Shemyakin-Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (PMID 12782416). See the Deltaran page.
Does glycine help sleep on its own?
Yes, with newer and more robust human evidence than DSIP's own: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial (PMID 22529837) found 3 g of oral glycine before bed improved sleep quality, with a proposed NMDA-receptor/suprachiasmatic-nucleus mechanism (PMID 25533534). See the glycine page.
Is DSIP legal or FDA-approved?
Not an FDA-approved drug. In July 2026, the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed DSIP (as "Emideltide") for the 503A compounding list and voted 7-6 (one abstention) against recommending it — the only "no" among seven peptides reviewed that meeting. A compounding-list review, not a full approval decision; status can change.
Is Emmadeltide the same as Emideltide?
No. "Emideltide" is the FDA's own working name for DSIP. "Emmadeltide" is this site's own name, coined independently by Panacea. The two sound alike, which is stated here for accuracy — they are not the same thing, and no regulatory status is implied for this site.
Was Deltaran's benefit ever shown in a human clinical trial?
Not found in this research pass. The documented evidence is animal research (mice; likely rats in a separate line). A ClinicalTrials.gov search on 2026-09-05 found no registered interventional trial for DSIP, Emideltide, or a DSIP+glycine combination — WHO ICTRP, EU CTIS, Japan's jRCT/UMIN and Russian registries were not searched this pass.
Why does glycine appear in Deltaran at all?
Not established in the literature. Three explanations remain open: glycine's own independent sleep/NMDA action, a lyophilization bulking-agent role, or simple coincidence with DSIP's own glycine-containing sequence. See the Deltaran page for all three, stated as separate, labeled possibilities.
What does Panacea claim about Emmadeltide?
This site documents the DSIP, glycine and Deltaran science honestly, tiered by evidence type. Panacea makes no claim to have created, improved on, or been affiliated with Deltaran. The genuine Panacea observation is a formulation-science one: Deltaran's lyophilized-ampule format sits in the same presentation class as Panacea's own Lyoprester® dual-chamber cartridge and lyophilization process work.
